WWE SmackDown Results: Raquel Rodriguez Escapes the Chaos as Heavy Is The Crown

Raquel Rodriguez

If somebody ever needed proof that the Queen of the Ring tournament is less about wrestling ability and more about surviving organised chaos, this Fatal 4-Way in Bologna provided it.

Raquel Rodriguez defeated Bayley, Jacy Jayne and Kiana James on WWE SmackDown to advance in the 2026 Queen of the Ring tournament, but the result only tells part of the story.

For fourteen minutes, the Unipol Arena resembled a Renaissance painting where everybody was betraying everybody else.

Three heels.

One face.

No trust.

No rules.

And somewhere in the middle stood Raquel Rodriguez, carrying shoulders broad enough to make the entire tournament bracket look small.

Heavy is the crown.

Linkin Park’s anthem has become the soundtrack of WWE’s summer, and few wrestlers embody the phrase better than Rodriguez. Every opponent entered this match knowing exactly who the biggest threat was. The opening strategy was obvious.

Get rid of Raquel.

Immediately.

Bayley, Jacy Jayne and Kiana James practically formed a temporary coalition at the opening bell, launching Rodriguez over the ropes and removing the strongest woman from the equation before the match could properly begin.

It felt a little like watching the Czech Republic line up against South Korea at a World Cup and collectively deciding the only sensible plan was to stop the fastest player on the pitch touching the ball.

The problem was simple.

Raquel eventually comes back.

And when she does, people tend to leave dents in the furniture.

Jacy Jayne Continues to Feel Like a Star

Coming into this match, I honestly thought Jacy Jayne might win.

Not because she needed the victory most.

Because she feels like somebody WWE should be pushing harder.

A few months ago I found her completely forgettable. Different gear. Different presentation. Different everything.

Now?

She looks like a star.

The facial expressions alone tell half the story.

At one point she glanced across at Rodriguez with the sort of expression that said: “I know you’re there. I’ll deal with you later.”

It was subtle.

It was brilliant.

Jayne has developed a strange villainous showgirl quality. Every entrance feels theatrical. Every movement feels deliberate. Every reaction feels genuine.

When she launched herself from the apron onto Bayley near the steel steps, there was real venom behind it.

The woman understands character work.

And in modern wrestling, that’s half the battle.

Bayley Makes Everybody Better

The older Bayley gets, the better she seems to become.

Some wrestlers spend their veteran years protecting their position.

Bayley spends hers elevating everyone around her.

Whether she was working the Bologna crowd, encouraging chants, trading reversals with Kiana James or exchanging sequences with Jacy Jayne, she acted as the glue holding the match together.

Her chemistry with Jayne was particularly interesting.

Different aesthetics.

Different generations.

Different styles.

Yet every exchange felt natural.

If WWE ever wanted Bayley and Lyra Valkyria to cross paths with Fatal Influence, there is plenty of evidence here that the rivalry could be tremendous.

Kiana James, Giulia and One Word That Changed Everything

The emotional heart of the match happened outside the ring.

Kiana James arrived with Giulia at ringside while everyone else’s allies stayed backstage.

That immediately felt suspicious.

If you’re bringing somebody to a Fatal 4-Way, you’re usually advancing a story rather than supporting a friend.

Sure enough, the relationship exploded.

After Jacy Jayne correctly broke up a pinfall attempt, James looked outside the ring and blamed Giulia instead.

“What is your problem?!”

It was the line of the match.

The problem, of course, was that Giulia had done absolutely nothing wrong.

My basic Japanese was just enough to recognise her response.

“Chigau! Chigau! Chigau!”

Literally, “That’s not right.”

But the nuance is softer than that.

The reality is different.

You’ve misunderstood.

You’re seeing the wrong picture.

Unfortunately, Kiana James wasn’t interested in nuance.

She wanted somebody to blame.

And by the time she realised the truth, Bayley had already planted her with a Roseplant.

The damage was done.

The friendship was over.

The Finish

The closing sequence was beautifully chaotic.

Bayley hit the Roseplant.

Jacy Jayne landed Rolling Encore.

Raquel Rodriguez flattened Jayne.

Then came the Tejana Bomb.

One.

Two.

Three.

Done.

The beauty of the sequence was that everybody looked strong.

Nobody felt exposed.

Nobody felt buried.

Everybody contributed to the collapse.

Rodriguez simply happened to be the last woman standing.

Heavy is the crown.

Sometimes it isn’t won.

Sometimes it just lands on the strongest shoulders in the room.

Final Thoughts

After watching this match, three of the four participants looked like credible tournament winners.

Bayley remains one of WWE’s safest pairs of hands.

Jacy Jayne continues to feel like somebody destined for bigger things.

Raquel Rodriguez finally feels like the monster WWE always promised she could become.

The only wrestler who never really felt likely to advance was Kiana James, simply because her future now appears tied directly to Giulia.

As for Rodriguez?

A Queen of the Ring semi-final against Iyo Sky now awaits.

A terrible tournament format, admittedly.

A potentially excellent wrestling match.

And perhaps the first real step towards a future collision with Liv Morgan.

Because if Raquel keeps winning, The Judgment Day’s internal cold war won’t stay cold for much longer.
